The town lies on an approx. 40 m high rock by the
Tyrrhenian sea.
From the oldest part of the town one has a good view of the sea and the fine-sandy
beach, partly crossed by rocks.
By clear view one can sea up to volcanic island Stromboli
and the other Eolie Islands. Not far from the centre lies on the rock the pilgrimage church
Santa Maria dell' Isola which represents a popular destination of the excursion. Tropea on account
of its position and the oldest part of the town in good condition belongs to the favorite vacation spots
of Calabria and most beautiful places of the Italian Mediterranean coast. However, in spite of
its popularity it has retained naturalness and up to now has remained from the mass tourism spared.
The oldest part of the town Tropeas invites with numerous cafés, small boutiques and typically
Italian alleys to stroll and staying. In the surroundings there are numerous small bays and white sandy beachs.
To the south of Tropea there is the famous lookout point Capo Vaticano.
