Campania is one of Italy's most beautiful
regions.
It was part of
Magna Graecia,
the Greek colonies of southern Italy and is
extraordinarily rich in remains of the classic
antiquity, which can be found in Herculaneum,
Pompeii and Paestum. Amphitheaters, triumphal
arches, villas, bridges and tombs of the Roman
Imperial Age are numerous and remarkable.
The chief town is Naples with 1 million inhabitants.
Well known in the world are the islands Capri
and Ischia also the beautiful coast of Amalfi
with the nice villages Positano, Sorrento e
Amalfi.
Only
100 km southern begins the Cilento, an almost
still unknown national park and Unesco world
cultural heritage,
The national park del Cilento e Vallo di Diano
applies about more than 200.000 ha of country
surface. The protected nature allows
only a subtle tourism in this area and gets
therefore the good water quality, the big and
intact vegetation and animal kingdom and also
the villages.
The climate is warm, and one of the most
familiar images is of oranges and lemons growing
in green groves above the deep blue sea.
Nature
Not
only art, history and sea: Campania offers so
many enchanting places to the lovers of the
nature whether to spend an unforgettable
vacation "absorbed in the green."Two National Parks. that of the
Vesuvius and
that of the
Cilento. nine
Regional Parks and a series of oasis and
protected sea areas, of archaeological parks and
of natural reserves, that cover the 30% of the
territory live.
Regional cuisine
The
local kitchen is very famous and healthy
(Dieta mediterranea), with a lot of fresh local
products. We recommend to try the multiplicity of
the different dishes, like Mozzarella
from buffalo milk, browned aubergines (Melanzane),
home-made noodles (pasta casareccia), spaghetti
with Venus's shells (spaghetti con le vongole). to enumerate only
some of the tasty dishes.
