   Important information

Accommodation
Facilities: The most part of our holiday accommodation are private houses or apartments, which are decorated according to the personal tastes of their respective owners. This means that the style of the accommodation, equipment and decorations could vary in style. Usually the kitchens have a fridge and hob and are properly equipped (base). But special equipment and kitchen appliances are only available if it is explicitly listed in the description of the object (for example baking oven, microwave, water kettle). Beds: The beds in Italy are often very simple (metal frame with mattress) and not always so long (typically 1.80 m-2,00m) and wide (single beds 70-80cm, double beds 1,40-1,60 m) how to use it at home. The double beds are often compiled by two single beds. In the online catalogue is listed the maximal number of sleeps for each accommodation. Please note: if the maximal number of sleeps is indicated with a "+" (e.g. 2 + 2) the + sign means that for the number of persons behind the + is not a separate bedroom available and usually for this persons is only a bed settee available. Bed linen/Towels are inclusvie or to rent by site (for fee). Usually there are 1 bath towels and 1 towels inclusive. Beach towel, pool towel and dish towel are not inclusive. Baby cot: A baby cot must be confirmed by Mediterraneo Case. Normally the baby cot is a portable playard, bedlines are not included.

Heating / air conditioning / fireplace
Heating is only in the accommodation where it is explicitly listed in the description. If, for a holiday accommodation is indicated "heating", it is often an air-conditioning, which cools and warms. Please note that in many cases the air conditioners are not installed in all rooms of the house/apartment. Due to the low power capacity not all at once can be operated. The use of air conditioners is to be paid on site and calculated according to the consumption (electricity) or at a fixed price (see detailed description). Only where is specified a “central heating” you will find heater in the rooms. The central heating will be paid also on site, according to consumption or at a fixed price. Because of the high gas prices the use of Heating is very expensive in Italy (min. € 10.00 to € 20.00 per day where in the object description is no price indicated). Saving new regulations, in Italy one can currently only use central heating from the beginning of Dezember to the end of March (depending of the regions) for only 8 hours a day. Outside this period heating can not be guaranteed. If a holiday home disposes of a fireplace, it is not automatically upon arrival enough wood available. Would you use the fireplace, so please specify it when booking. In some places is only available a larger amount of wood. The firewood is to be paid on site, according to consumption or at a fixed price. It is also important to note that the fireplace often heated only the respective room and not the entire dwelling. If the house disposes of a thermo fireplaces the heater in the rooms only heats if the fire place operates. For holiday accommodation without heating/air-conditioning are available on request a small movable gas or electric stove (payable on site – see the detail description).

Water
Many holiday accommodations have a hot water boiler with limited capacity, so that no unlimited showers are possible. Not all holiday accommodation are connected to the public water network therefore there are equipped with water cisterns. If the water is consumed, the owner have to order it. The supply of water is usually within a few hours. In the high season, in some places ever to water shortage, the municipality stops the water for a few hours.

Swimming Pool
The days when a pool is open, are indicated in the item descriptions. It may be due to weather conditions. The pools are not heated, unless it is explicitly described. Private pools are not always very clean, and it can sometimes insects and leaves contains. Please also note that the owner or caretaker has regularly access to the property for maintaining and cleaning the pool.

Arrival and departure
The arrival is usually between the 3:00 pm and 07:00 pm. Please inform us of late arrivals. Even though the owner with a later arrival should agree possibly accommodation costs are charged to the guest. The accommodation is to leave swept between 8:00 am and 10:00 am, so everything could be cleaned and prepared for following guests. The cleaning of the kitchen is not included in the final cleaning paid by you. Therefore please leave the kitchen cleaned (dishes washed, rubbish removed), otherwise the owner/caretaker can retain an amount of the security deposit.

Deposit
Upon arrival the owner ask you for the security deposit for possible damages or for services (heating, air conditioning) payable on site. This deposit will be repaid when you leave the accommodation (less charges).

TV
satellite or cable TV is only where it is listed in the description. If in the description is only “TV”, then only local programs are to receive. But even with satellite and cable TV is not guaranteed, that you can see your local channels. Money

Money
The currency in Italy is the EURO. Money can possibly change in the banks. With foreign currency in generally a payment is not possible.

Language
Italian is the official language, but you will often hear a dialect. Each region has its own dialect. Please remember that it is difficult to find someone which speaks English. Also the most part of the owners speak only Italian.

Mosquitoes, insects
In the southern countries, mosquitoes and insects are inevitable. Especially in the Middle Sea mosquitoes are to be expected. Not all accommodations have mosquito protection. Therefore, we recommend to bring with you mosquito protection products. Also, please note that in many southern Italy regions exists lizards and also snakes.

Opening times
The exact opening times of individual stores and banks depending on the location. In general, all shops and supermarkets are open from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In small places, the post office usually only open the morning. In the summer months, often the stores are also open on Sunday.

Construction and public works
Construction and public works are unfortunately also present in the places, where we offer holiday accommodation. Then we do not have influence and can therefore not be avoided. If we know something in this, we will inform you immediately about it. If there is a strong prejudice, we try to find a solution or substitute accommodation.

Low and high season
Please note that in the off-season may occur that tourist attractions, restaurants and shops are closed. Also this time is often used for construction in the resorts. The beaches are usually not cleaned from October to May. In the high season you have to expect many tourists because in July and August spend also the Italian their holidays. This is also the time of the concerts, street festivals and performances.

Noise / July and August
Please expect a quiet position only where this is explicitly described (the statement refers only to ordinary conditions without, for example noisy neighbours or traffic diversions). The quiet position doesn’t counts automatically for the months of July and August, because these two months are the peak tourist months for Italian guests and it is associated with increased noise, for example by animation in hotels / vacation villages, discotheques, bars (also in small villages). Especially in the week around the 15.08. (Feast day in Italy), many tourists are on the way, on the beaches and resorts, many events, especially in the evening, will take place. Please consider this when planning your holidays.

Phoning
Prepaid phone cards for fixed and mobile phones are available in telephone shops, tobacco shops and sometimes in supermarkets. Not all areas are covered with mobile networks. Especially the accommodation in the mountains or at sea often fail to receive.

Electricity
The Italian electricity network has 220 V, 50 hz. Usually adapter plugs are necessary because the Italian sockets have 3 narrow holes. Please note that the current capacity of individual houses is much lower than at home. So it can happen that the power switch jump out if more than two devices such as hot water boiler, oven, washing machine, air conditioning are running. By some accommodation the consumption of electricity is not included in the price and to pay on site. Consider the fact that the size of the house, air conditioners, pool and a large illuminated outdoor influence the consumption and therefore the costs of electricity.
